The magical surf foil for curves.

Introduction

The Curve Surf Foil Setup is the best mix of ease, speed and maneuverability. This is the magic front wing for foilers looking for maximum performance when carving. We all know that the key in surfing is speed, but imagine a front wing capable of turning on the spot at very low speed and carving healthily at high speed: the Curve front wing is a monster for carving !!! To fully understand the range : The original Curve with a moderate ratio and the Curve T with a higher ratio. The Curve front wings in sizes M, L, XL, XXL offer a very high level of performance, especially in carving, but tolerant and softer shapes. Definitely the best profile after a beginner’s wing like the Rise. You can turn very short, fly at low speed and up to 5 knots faster than a beginner. This enormous speed range coupled with optimal maneuverability makes them the favorite kites for those looking for easy and efficient kites at the same time. The Curve T front wings, called T for Tall, fit in between the standard sizes, so: MT, LT and XLT. They have a higher aspect ratio which allows for the speed of the lower size and lift closer to the size above. In fact, they have the chord and the thickness of the size below but with a greater wingspan to increase the ratio. The Curves T are racier, faster, and designed for foilers who want more performance than with the Curve. That’s typically the shape you’ll choose when you love the Curve, but want to push your limits further without giving up the magic of the Curve: carving. In surf foil, the Curve Foil is manoeuvrable and intended for foilers who want performance without sacrificing low speeds, especially in soft waves. This is typically the shape we choose when we love magical curves.

Choosing the right size:

Our shaper, Patrice Guénolé, has exaggerated the characteristics of each size to get the best out of each range of use. The smaller front wings are therefore adapted to high speeds and the large ones to lower speeds. The criterion of choice is therefore not only the size of the foiler.
  • The M has a 69 cm wingspan, 1100 cm², 2.2 cm thick for a volume of 1.1L. Mounted with a 39 cm Curve stab, this is a very small surf foil for pros, lightweight and tow-in.
  • The M-T has a 73 cm wingspan, 1150 cm², 2.0 cm thick for a volume of 1.1L. Mounted with a 39 cm Curve stab, this is a surf foil for good and light people.
  • The L has a 77 cm wingspan, 1350 cm², 2.4 cm thick for a volume of 1.6L. Mounted with a 43cm Curve Stab, this is an intermediate surf foil suitable for lightweight people who want an easy perf wing after their beginner wing, or for big guys who want a fast wing, easy to pump and ultra maneuverable. The pumping/handling compromise is ideal for fit foilers.
  • The L-T has a 85cm wingspan, 1450cm², 2.3cm thick for a volume of 1.7L. Mounted with a 43 cm Curve stab, this is an intermediate+ surf foil that is suitable for riders under 80kg who want an easy perf wing after their beginner wing, or for strong people who want a fast and ultra maneuverable wing. The pomping/handling compromise is great for energetic riders.
  • The XLS has a 89 cm wingspan, 1500 cm², 2.5 cm thick for a volume of 2.5L. Mounted with a 46cm Curve stab, It’s the foil that works in 90% of the surf conditions for people between 75 and 90kg. You don’t need to be a monster when pumping to get back to the peak as it glides and erases mistakes.
  • The XL has a 92 cm wingspan, 1900 cm², 2.7 cm thick for a volume of 1.9L. Mounted with a 46cm Curve stab, this is a large surf foil suitable for lightweight people who want a very easy perf wing after their beginner wing, or for big guys who want a fast wing, very easy to pump and maneuverable. The pumping/handling compromise is great for strong and energetic foilers.
  • The XL-T has a 102 cm wingspan, 2100 cm², 2.7 cm thick for a volume of 2.8L. Mounted with a 46 cm Curve stab, this is a very large surf foil suitable for lightweight dock/beach starters, but above all for strong people who want a wing that is very easy to pump and which remains maneuverable. The pumping/handling compromise is ideal for strong foilers. You can weigh over 100kg and go over great distances in pumping, do 5 waves without throwing up. It’s great in soft waves.

Shape

The shape of the Curve is dedicated to turns. The leading-edge outline is very rounded and projected, the tips are well back from the centre. This curved look makes turns easy and healthy. The camber of the front wing seen from the front is large enough to prevent the tips from coming out of the water in every curve, but not too much. So, that if one tip comes out of the water in a curve, the other will not give you a hard hit that will cause you to stall out. The profile is moderately thick, supercritical and offers the smoothest glide possible. In practice, the emphasis has been placed on what is called “rail to rail” in surfing. If you look at the Curve wings, you won’t see any breaks, just a very soft profile halfway between shapes with volume and extreme shapes.

Equipements

  • The foil consists of a Curve Front Wing with a Curve Stabilizer.
  • The 65cm Aluminum Mast V2 and the fuselage are delivered with the Mast Fuselage Connector for a conical assembly without play.
  • The 4-hole plate, with standard center distances, will offer you a perfect connection between your foil and your board.
  • The complete screw kit with tightening key is supplied. Everything is delivered in a very practical transport bag to store and transport your dismantled foil.

Construction

Our wings and stabs are made of 90% Prepreg 3K carbon, with more than 15 layers of carbon fiber in total. High tension points such as the joints and connections are reinforced with Kevlar to resist tearing and glass for tolerance. Moulded at high pressure and high temperature on a foam core, our stabs are practically indestructible. Both rigid and floating, they are the perfect balance between contained weight and infinite durability. All of our wings and stabs have “soft tips”. Their ends are rounded and bulky to limit the danger, within the limits of efficient hydrodynamics. Likewise, the trailing edges are blunt so as not to be sharp. We invite you to be extremely careful despite everything because these parts remain dangerous by nature. Stay at a distance, and never sharpen them. Our new 65cm Alu mast is perfect to perform with the Curve foil. Our new mast gains in performance and modernity with this new teardrop-shaped profile. Its chord is wider to optimize hydrodynamics and limit drag. This also eliminates the phenomenon of mast twisting and thus offers sharper sensations. The profile is also thicker to bring more rigidity and to offer a direct and incisive piloting which will surprise you even in very committed curves. This gain in rigidity will allow you to be much more efficient in take-off/pumping, at high speed, as well as in surfing thanks to a more precise feeling of the foil. A new assembly part between the mast and the fuselage is appearing this year: the Mast Fuselage Connector. It’s a conical piece to fit in the fuselage with a 6cm fitting in the mast to eliminate any potential play between these two parts. You have the rigidity of a monobloc mast with a removable system. The new fuselage retains its assembly system with the wings to maintain compatibility with all our front wings and stabs. The top plate is still gaining in strength The whole results in an optimized foil, extremely powerful and resistant, with a frank piloting which will know how to take the moves without the slightest distortion. This foil is completely dismountable to adapt to all sports at a lower cost and give you the possibility to replace a damaged part. A complete spare parts catalogue is available, to allow you to make it compatible with multiple supports (surf/SUP/kite/wing), and to explore the full range of use of the foil in every sport and at every level. Your benefits are clear:

1. An efficient shape created by one of the leaders in the world of foiling. 2. A design at the cutting edge of R&D and ahead of its time. 3. Proven construction on thousands of foils 4. Full Option finishing at a great price. 5. A light and solid foil with one of the best technos on the market!!! 6. An incredible price that can only be explained by our direct relationship with you. 7. Simple maintenance and easy repairs because we have all components in stock.

GONG | Surf Foil Allvator V2 Curve Alu Carbon

Pro Clear Front Wing Technology

Carbon fiber is the Holy Grail of composite materials. Its use allows for the creation of products with high technical constraints. This enables both thickness reduction and increased rigidity, providing more speed and responsiveness in navigation.

These wings have no flex. Fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest weight possible.

Each layer of carbon fiber is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the fibers. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the layers, guaranteeing a strong and durable structure.

Durability and repairability are at the heart of our development philosophy. Our foils are tested and proven by dozens of team riders, hundreds of employees, and thousands of customers worldwide. Even in case of damage, our products can be repaired multiple times, ensuring exceptional longevity.

Buying guide

For whom?

You need to have an intermediate level to appreciate this Curve Foil as it’s not as forgiving at low speeds as beginner foils like the Rise is.

For what?

It’s a foil intended for high performance in surf, whatever the conditions. Its ability to turn on the spot, fly in a huge range of speeds, recover from stalls healthily, make it the major support for a modern and radical drive.

What size?

On the flat, we tend to think that the bigger the better. With moderation though, but yes, it’s often the rule.

Here is a view of the ideal weight of the rider for each wing and each use:

The M has a 69cm wingspan, 1100 cm², 2.2 cm thick for a volume of 1.1L.

  • In Surf Foil: less than 65kg in normal waves and less than 85kg in bigger waves.
  • In Wing: less than 65kg or very good level and strong wind.
  • In Kite Foil: less than 85kg.

The M-T has a 73cm wingspan, 1150cm², 2.0cm thick for a volume of 1.14L.

  • In Surf Foil: less than 70kg in normal waves and less than 95kg in bigger waves.
  • In Wing: less than 70kg or very good level and steady wind.
  • In Kite Foil: less than 95kg.

 The L has a 77cm wingspan, 1350cm², 2.4cm thick for a volume of 1.6L.

  • In Surf Foil: less than 75kg in normal waves and more than 85kg in bigger waves.
  • In Wing: less than 75kg or good level and steady wind.
  • In Kite Foil: from 80kg to 110kg.

The L-T has a 85cm wingspan, 1450cm², 2.3cm thick for a volume of 1.66L.

  • In Surf Foil: less than 85kg in normal waves and more than 90kg in the bigger waves.
  • In Wing: less than 90kg or good level and established wind.
  • In Kite Foil: forget.

The XL-S has a 89cm wingspan, 1500cm², 2.5cm thick for a volume of 1.89L.

  • In Surf Foil: from 75 to 90kg in normal waves.
  • In Wing: 70kg and more, or light beginners.
  • In Kite Foil: forget.

The XL has a 92cm wingspan, 1900 cm², 2.7 cm thick for a volume of 2.55L.

  • In Surf Foil: from 80 to 95kg in normal waves.
  • In Wing: 75kg and more, or light beginners.
  • In Kite Foil: forget.

 The XL-T has a 102cm wingspan, 2100 cm², 2.7 cm thick for a volume of 2.80L.

  • In Surf Foil: more than 90kg in normal waves.
  • In Wing: 85kg and more for light and irregular wind.
  • In Kite Foil: forget.

You’ll use a bigger foil in lower ranges, softer conditions. And conversely a smaller foil in those recommended for stronger conditions. The important thing to remember is that the choice of your front wing depends on your size, which requires lift, and your average speed, which generates lift.

When pumping from dock start or beach start, we recommend the wings as follows:

  • The M, the MT, the L: forget. It’s of no interest.
  • The LT: less than 55kg.
  • The XLS: less than 65kg.
  • The XL: less than 75kg.
  • The XLT: less than 95kg.
  • The XXL: above 95kg.

Quiver partner?

The ALLVATOR V2 Surf Curve foil is ideal on a high performance surf foil board like the Matata or the Lethal.

Positioning of the foil ?

For the GONG foils, place the plate in the middle of the US rails.

The more you move it forward, the more it makes the board pitch up. The further you move it backwards, the more the nose of the board dives.

Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend to forget to use the back foot, especially when we have a kitefoil background. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.
